In reply to Mr. Grindle's letter of the 23rd ultimo (40700/1917), enclosing copy of correspondence regarding
the detached duty allowance to Commander B.R.H.Taylour, R.N.,
I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of nis majesty's Treasury to request you to inform Mr. Secretary Long that if this allowance were drawn by an officer lent from the nome Service for naval service during the war a corresponding deduction would be made from the balance of his civil salary payable under the Treasury Circulars of August 1914.
